BC Luxury Horse Riding Holiday | Meet the Horses at Siwash Lake

We invite you to meet the gentle, responsive, magical horses of Siwash Lake. Spending time with them and learning about the powerful Spirit of Equus is the highlight of a luxury horse riding holiday.

We have a beautiful herd available to suit your experience — whether you are entering the realm of the horse for the first time or are a seasoned equestrian.

Meet our gentle, magical horses at Siwash Lake

Our Own Ranch Horses

At Siwash Lake, unlike certain other dude ranches and resorts, we own all of our horses and none of them are leased. Nor do we send our guests to off-site contractors for horseback riding. Our horses live at the ranch year round, and most have been with us since they were very young. A few were born here.

Our horses love to buck and play when they are together in the wild. But when they come in to the corrals each morning to partner with our special guests, their professional training takes effect. Settling to a familiar routine at the barn and on the trails, they really do enjoy their work!

A Happy, Healthy Herd

Guests consistently tell us they have never seen such happy, healthy and well-mannered horses.
Calm and eager to please. We keep them naturally, allowing the herd to graze freely together in expansive pastures every evening.

They are exquisite, gentle creatures. To us, they are family members, so precious, and we treat them with the utmost care and respect. When they get too old to carry people around, they make wonderful small children's horses. We reward their years of dedicated service by allowing them to retire and roam free in our pastures for the remainder of their lives. Quite a few of our herd have lived well into their 30's!

We love the western Quarter horse breed for its sturdiness, agility and suitability for the Cariboo's wild and varied riding terrain.
